LINK TRANSPORTS U.N. CONSIGNMENT FROM DELHI TO MUMBAI PORT
August 2008

In 2008 the Central Industrial Security Force sent a consignment of material for the United Nations to Haiti. Scan Trans won the contract to transport this material and appointed Link Shipping as local agents. Along with handling Scan Trans’ vessel in Mumbai, Link would also be responsible for the local transport of the material from the CISF compound in Ghaziabad as well as custom clearing the goods and bringing them alongside the vessel.

The consignment consisted of 56 vehicles which included supply vehicles and armoured vehicles weighing up to 25 MT. 17 x 20’ containers were transported with personal effects of the force and ammunitions. The vehicles themselves were packed with food and water. All of this was loaded onto 48 X 40’ trailers in four days and moved from Ghaziabad to Mumbai by road along with a CISF escort to safeguard the ammunition. Special permissions were needed to custom clear and allow the ammunition to be loaded in Mumbai port. The whole operation was conducted in a smooth and efficient manner under the supervision of UN appointed representatives.
